PETITION
Aqueduct Racetrack (“Aqueduct”) was opened on September 27th, 1894 in Ozone Park, Queens. It currently occupies 192-acres and is owned and operated by the New York Racing Association (NYRA). New York State legalized slot machines (referred to as Video Lottery Terminals or VLTS), and currently the racetrack is being developed into a race track and casino hybrid or “RACINO” by the multi-national corporation Resorts World Aqueduct New York/Genting New York (Genting Malaysia Berhad). The company’s proposal includes the installation of 4,500 Slot Machines, multiple restaurants and a meeting and event space.
Without your support, Genting and NYRA will permanently and unnecessarily close the historic Aqueduct Flea Market in December, displacing over 1,500 workers who depend on the Market for their livelihood and depriving our residents of an important low-cost shopping alternative they have depended on for decades. We the vendors believe that the Flea Market and the “Racino” can co-exist at the current location, we believe that the 10,000 Flea Market Shoppers every weekend will spill-over to help make the Casino a success. Most of our customers would be happy to relax at the Casino after shopping at the Flea Market, please sign our petition.
We call on the relevant stakeholders, NYRA, Genting New York, LLC and State Government Agencies and Authorities to immediately begin working on an acceptable solution by opening an official dialogue to find the best way to resolve this issue with everyone’s interest considered, including the Vendors and shoppers. to sign the Petition please complete the form above or email Darrel at AqueductVendors@gmail.com or visit the Flea Market on Saturday & Sunday. Aqueduct Flea Market, 110-00 Rockaway Boulevard (@111ths Street), Ozzone Park, NY 11420 Respectfully Yours,Aqueduct Flea Market Vendors Association.
